"Face Jug", 2014
Made from memory to approximate the face jug in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago
Vessel contains 500 india ink on paper drawings. Beginning with a drawing of the face jug in the AIC, I made a drawing of that drawing, and so on, in a chain of observational mark-making. during the course of a performance, I remove the vessel to reveal the drawings for temporary display.
performance lasting approximately 1 hour
performing a "reading" of 500 ink on paper drawings, I take each from the stack and momentarily display the abstracted image of the face jug.
